August 2008

August was a crazy and emotional month. At the beginning of the month we had to take our dog, Skyler, to his new home. He bit a friend of Ashley’s earlier this Summer and we had to find him a place to go. We found a trainer close to Louisville that would train him to be a herding dog (that was his instinct and why he bit in the first place) and place him on a farm where he could put those skills to use. It was a very difficult time for all of us. Ed and I adopted him from the shelter as a puppy 7 years ago so it was very difficult to say goodbye.

Soccer started for both of the girls and they both enjoyed playing.

Ed and I went to the DCI International Finals in Indiana and I think he actually enjoyed it. Ashley started school on August 13th and if you read my earlier blog you know it was a hard day for me. I was pretty sappy!!

At the end of the month Ashley turned 6 and we celebrated at the pool with her friends.

Other than that we stayed busy playing with baby Katie, hanging out together and playing at the pool.

July 2008

July was a very busy month!

We spent the 3rd of July celebrating Independence Day with the Wilbers’ family.

On the 4th we left very early in the morning to drive to South Dakota. It took us about 22 hours to get there and we got there in one day which was nice. However, Ed wasn’t too pleased with the speeding ticket I got in South Dakota! J We had a great time relaxing with the family. Ashley really wanted to see a cave so we went to Crystal Caverns. We had had a family reunion and took a bus tour of the Black Hills and had a blast!

Almost as soon as we got back to Kentucky it was time for a 3rd birthday bash for Abigail. We had a princess party and she loved it. She loves anything to do with princesses!!

A little over a week later we were blessed with the birth of our first niece, Katherine Michelle. She is so beautiful and we all truly love her! The girls can’t wait to start teaching her things.

June 2008

Well, I am long overdue for updating the blog so I thought I would do a summary of each month since our beach trip in May.

June was a fun and relaxing month. The girls had fun swimming and playing outdoors with their neighborhood friends. Ashley had a week-long day camp at UC’s CCM (Cincinnati Conservatory of Music) called Popcorn Playhouse where they made instruments and learned about drama and dancing. She really loved it!! She also went to St. Barbara’s vacation bible school with her best friend, Lanier, and had a great time. My grandmother came to visit so we all spent some time relaxing and visiting with her at my parent’s house. We all also were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first niece. The girls couldn’t wait to meet their new cousin.
